About Thorizon

At Thorizon, we’re a passionate and rapidly growing team of 45 in Amsterdam and Lyon, all working together to develop a new nuclear power solution. We design and create frontier technology for Molten Salt Reactors (MSR).

Your mission

You will be responsible of the cartridge life cycle, ensuring that all the life steps are taken in account in the design, you will ensure that all the interfaces along this life are properly implemented and you will ensure the development of the cartridge control system. For that you will plan the activities, ensuring the deliveries on time along the development phase to reach a strong and reliable design of all the cartridge interactions. On project mode, you will manage the main project phases from prototyping to final industrialization of our first reactor ; working with our internal and external experts. 

In this role you will:

  • Directly be responsible of the project deliveries of his perimeter: Cartridge Life cycle, Interfaces & Control. You will ensure a strong mechanical engineering of the interfaces of the cartridge with his environment & a strong design of sensors and control systems implemented on the cartridges.
  • Organize the project activities to respect the objectives: workshop organization, project reviews, milestones preparation and presentation.
  • Manage the interactions with other functions of the cartridge, nuclear island & partners involved in the cartridge life.
  • Work with Thorizon strong experts & external partners to reach project targets.
  • Define the priorities and working plan, evaluate the solutions and ensure the progression of the project in a defined timing.
  • Organize the project activities to respect the objectives : workshop organization, project reviews, milestones preparation and presentation.
  • Work with multiple Thorizon strong experts & external partners to reach project targets.
  • Secure the quality of the work delivered, including definition and executing of efforts required for validation and qualification
  • Integrate your team with the project organisation, and with the other functional teams in the disciplines mechanic, thermal hydraulics, core physics and chemistry.
  • Occasional travel to visit plants, meet with partners, organize workshops or work face to face with colleagues in Lyon or Amsterdam.

About you:

  • You have a Master's degree in mechanical engineering and a background in mechanic design of complex structures and knowledge in sensors and control systems.
  • Experience in projects including pressure vessels, piping, large components, mechanical handling is a plus
  • You have at least 5 years of experience in engineering project
  • Experience with System’s engineering approaches are a plus
  • You have good knowledge of structural and (thermo) mechanical analyses methods, design by rules and quality assurance, which you combine with a practical approach, supporting realization.
  • Previous experience in the nuclear sector is not required, but interest in the energy and nuclear field, and in multidisciplinary complexity and innovation is essential
  • You have strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with drive for quality and accuracy.
  • You get inspired by an organisation with a large variety of people, with different experiences and background, and have the ability to adjust your communication style depending on situation and the people involved.
  • You are open and communicative, sharing your observations and expectations. Clear is kind.
  • You are an excellent communicator in English (working daily language), both spoken and written
  • You are a team player, and as such can build a team of teamplayers
  • You solve problems creatively and know when and how to involve other team members
  • You are a hands-on self-starter who likes to work in a multicultural and dynamic environment that is growing fast
  • You have an intrinsic motivation to make an impact and want to contribute to a responsible energy supply
